Quality Feed & Garden Company has served Houston families for generations. The historic feed store is located on a nearly two-acre site on North Main Street, just north of downtown Houston in the historic Heights community. Quality Feed & Garden Company proudly ranks as one of Houston’s oldest companies and one of the oldest Purina feed and garden stores in the United States.
Today, Quality Feed & Garden employs its 4th owners and a knowledgeable staff that focuses on customer service. The company’s product lines continually expand to meet the needs of the animals, lawns and gardens our clients tend. But the ambiance, one-on-one personal service, expert advise, and reasonable prices remain the same. The company’s goal is to “live local” – offering merchandise made in the USA, in our great state of Texas, and even right here in Houston!
Quality Feed & Garden contributes to local school agriculture programs, community and school gardening programs, HIV/AIDS patient care groups, and many area churches and businesses. The store proudly assists the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), Houston Zoo, Texas Wildlife Rehabilitation Coalition, and gardening programs for the United Way, Target Hunger and Urban Harvest.
Over the years, Quality Feed & Garden Company has received honors from Purina Mills Inc., Kaytee Pet Products, and the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. The store was voted the “Best Pet Supply Store” in Houston by readers of the Houston Press newspaper.
In 2010, in celebration of the store’s 82nd anniversary, Mayor Annise Parker and Council Member Ed Gonzalez officially proclaimed October 23rd as Quality Feed & Garden Day in recognition of the store’s years of service to Houston!
